Summer has arrived! Runner and I have been keeping ourselves busy with some summer fun.
Graduation – my brother, Darius, graduated from High School on Tuesday. We celebrated that evening at The Cheesecake Factory. I ordered the Bang Bang Chicken and Shrimp and I ate it for leftovers 2 times this week. Gotta love those out of control portions! Runner and I shared a piece of Lemon Raspberry Cheesecake which we ate every bite of – highly recommended. Then, on Friday we went over to my Dad’s for the official grad party. Runner played soccer in the backyard and we ate hot dogs and hamburgers from the grill.
Baseball – we went to the Nats v. Braves game on Thursday with our Kiwanis club. We enjoyed a Blue Smoke pulled pork sandwich and fries. When will they please open a DC location?? I also reunited with a friend from my summer internship at United Way – it’s been 5 years but thanks to Facebook we’ve kept tabs on each other. The game wasn’t too exciting but the food and friends made for a lovely evening.
Barbeque – today we checked out the Safeway Barbecue Battle. We arrived around noon and headed directly to the Safeway tent. The line was sooo long but the samples were plentiful. Admission to the event was $15. We definitely got enough free samples to make a meal out of and the only thing we purchased was a soda ($3). It was overcast and threatened to rain the whole day but lucky for us the skies never opened up.
What have you been up to?
